Sometimes a UI element is more than just a UI element. Sometimes you introduce functionality with unintended consequences. Sometimes your work causes actual harm.
As designers, it’s particularly important to anticipate the consequences of the design choices we make. We need to do more than just create beauty. Design is about solving problems. It’s about making something that’s challenging easier.
Unless you’re prepared to measure and test your designs with actual users, you should pick another field.
