Ease of Use – Winner: SiteGround
In my opinion, ease of use is where SiteGround truly shines.
SiteGround redesigned its admin tools in mid-2019, and it really shows! Everything is well-labeled. Icons are bright and colorful. And when you’re looking for something, it’s exactly where you’d think it should be.
SiteGround also offers some fantastic tools for freelancers and agencies, including white-labeling and collaboration tools. Overall, it’s a fantastic experience.
Flywheel also offers an admin portal of its own design. But while it’s relatively sleek, it was a bit harder to find what you were looking for when making a change.
Winner: SiteGround
Customer Support – Winner: SiteGround
Both SiteGround and Flywheel offer excellent support. Their teams are responsive, and their documentation is clear and thorough.
But in my testing, SiteGround was consistently quicker to respond and more helpful when I asked complex questions.
Moreover, SiteGround support is consistently one of the top-rated support teams in the world year in and year out. In fact, their support team is so good that WordPress.org specifically recommends them.

Speed & Performance – Winner: Toss-Up
SiteGround and Flywheel both promise excellent server speed. But do they deliver?
I set up test sites on both hosts and checked server response times from both the East Coast and West Coast to compare Flywheel vs SiteGround in terms of speed.
On average, SiteGround responded in 13 milliseconds from the East Coast and 11 milliseconds from the West Coast, while Flywheel took an average of 14 milliseconds from the East Coast and 7 milliseconds from the West Coast.
Both of these response times are fast enough that the average user wouldn’t notice.

Reliability & Uptime – Winner: Toss-Up
If you’re paying for hosting, you clearly want it to be reliable.
I tested both Flywheel vs SiteGround to see if they delivered on their guarantees of 99.9% uptime.
After monitoring for 30 days, SiteGround was up for 99.999% of the time, while Flywheel was up for 99.97% of the time.
That might seem like a trivial difference, but it means that over the course of 1 month, my Flywheel website was down for almost 13 hours, while my SiteGround website was down for less than an hour.
If you run a business, this is a big deal!

Money-Back Guarantee – Winner: SiteGround

SiteGround offers no-questions-asked 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. If you’re not totally satisfied, simply cancel and get your money back.
In contrast, Flywheel’s refund policy is more complex. They offer a refund for up to 72 hours on monthly plans, which really isn’t enough time to gauge whether it’s a good fit for your needs. While Flywheel does offer a 30-day guarantee for annual plans, as we’ve already covered, those plans can be quite pricey.
